Those who benefit first and foremost from the funding we receive is our residents. As a registered non-profit organization, we rely on the monetary donations we receive to supplement our services for things not covered by Government funding. This may include very specialized equipment as well as enabling us to ensure our residents enjoy many facets of life that those without disabilities take for granted but which add significantly to their quality of life.
As our building ages, many repairs, cosmetic changes and emergencies have periodically come to our attention. The lodge is the residents' permanent home in order for us to keep their home safe, comfortable and inviting as our homes, we utilize fundraising dollars to cover those expenses not funded through the various ministries who support us. Fundraising dollars also help to supplement the existing programming in place which promotes the health and well being of our residents and also those in our community and throughout Grey and Bruce counties.
For many, Participation Lodge has envisioned building a Community Based Home which would enable us to provide permanent housing to those individuals who have a life long goal to reside in a house in a city or town where they can access their community like so many of us take for granted. A small portion of our fundraising if available, is put aside for this specific project in hopes that someday, this dream will be realized for some of the people we support.
The concept of Participation Lodge began in the 1970s when parents and concerned citizens were looking for a vacation/respite spot for their adult children. As a result of the significant contribution of volunteers and their fund raising efforts, Participation Lodge opened its doors in 1982 with the following mission statement: Participation Lodge is a caring community intent on improving the quality of life for physically and mentally challenged people. A lot has changed since then. Not only have our programs expanded, we now also support individuals living with the lifelong effects of a brain injury. As a result, our Mission Statement has been updated. Participation Lodge embraces, empowers and enhances the lives of people with complex needs.
Today, Participation Lodge is home to twenty two permanent residents and services have expanded to include Apartment Projects in Hanover and Owen Sound, Community Outreach Services, and Acquired Brain Injury Program and year-round Respite Services. Fundraising and volunteering continue to be an essential component of our work to improve the lives of youth and adults with special needs. To this end, we are pleased to present our Fundraising Department.

The Fundraising Departments mission is to ensure the individuals we support, enjoy positive life experiences like every member of society. This means having choices, making decisions, gaining independence and building relationships.
The Fundraising Department promotes partnership opportunities that are mutually beneficial to all involved. These partnerships can involve individual citizens, corporations, small business and non-profit organizations through volunteering, promotions, events, memberships, grants and donations.
The Lodge Vision is to provide person centered services with dignity and respect. Our goal is for more active participation in the community for individuals receiving support. Being an "active participant" means being present in the community, joining social groups, finding gainful employment and forming natural friendships with people from all walks of life.
